Bostonians Protest City’s ‘Worst Landlord’

Boston tenants protested Sept. 16 against an investor they call the city’s “worst landlord.” Organized by City Live/Vida Urbana, the group picketed outside the home of John McGrail in the affluent Back Bay neighborhood. McGrail has recently raised some tenants’ rents by more than $500 a month, and begun “clearouts,” filing eviction notices against all the tenants in buildings, particularly in mostly Latino East Boston.
